Mumbai- Amid numerous criticisms and controversies, Prakash Jha’s controversial film Aarakshan made an average box-office collection of Rs 27 crores on the first week of its release in India and overseas.
The film has done well in Maharashtra along with few northern states. Aarakshan has earned average collection in both multiplexes as well as single screens.
The big budget film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Deepika Padukone and Prateik Babbar received mixed reviews.
With two films Not A Love Story and Chatur Singh Two Star which hit theatres on 19th August, it will indeed be a challenge for Aarakshan to stay in the box office.
Two low profile films also hit theatres last week– Cover Story and Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande.
