Lahore: Sanjay Leela Bansali’s much awaited film, ‘Guzzarish’ bowled over its fans, across the boarders, prior to its mother country.
The eve of the festival of Eid-ul-zuha, in Pakistan saw the release of Hrithik Roshan – Aishwarya Rai starer, ‘Guzzarish’ on November, 17, two days before, its release in India.
That is perhaps the first Indian movie to find applause in a foreign country before hitting the theaters in its origin nation.
The abrupt decision was taken by the cinema owners to coincide with the Muslim festival. The film was initially set for release on November 12 in both countries but was delayed by a week.
Exhibitors in Pakistan, who had already obtained prints of the film, decided to release it on Eid. The response has also been found overwhelming, an official of Cine Star Cinema confirmed.
Story 3, Golmaal 3, and Action Replay were also released during Eid but could not match the “phenomenal response to Guzaarish, distributors and hall owners said.
