Tollywood actor-director Dilip Roy leaves for his heavenly abode: Tollywood actor-director Dilip Roy left for his heavenly abode on Thursday. He was admitted to a private hospital as he was suffering from cancer.

He was 79. He began his career in Tollywood in the year 1954 with the film Sati Behula. Some of his popular movies are “Dui Purush”, “Apanjan”, “Abhaya O Srikanta”, “Kshudito Pashan”, “Arogya Niketan”, “Panna Hire Chuni”, “Jhinder Bandi” and “Hanshuli Banker Upakatha.”

He was at ease performing both the role of a hero or a villain. He shared screen with renowned actors such as Uttam Kumar, Soumitra Chatterjee, Suchitra Sen, Anil Chatterjee and Chhabi Biswas. Besides being an actor he was also a director.

He directed much acclaimed films like “Devdas” (1979), “Amrita Kumbher Sandhaney” (1982) and “Neelkantha “(1985). May his soul rest in peace.
