Mumbai: Born in 1986 in Denmark, Padukone belongs to the Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin. After few months of her birth her parents returned to India.
She is the daughter of one of the most reputed badminton players of the country, Prakash Padukone. Although she did play badminton till the state level, but later she gave it up to pursue other interests.
Currently, she is the international spokesperson for cosmetic brand Maybelline. In the early day of her career she has endorsed brands like Liril, Dabur Lal powder, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca.
She has appeared in the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar and has received top honors in modeling at the annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards and Idea Zee Fashion Awards.
Prior to entering Bollywood she has acted in the Kannada film Aishwarya. Her debut in Bollywood was opposite SRK in the movie Om Shanti Om. She has also acted Bachna Ae Haseeno with Ranbir kapoor whom she is currently dating and worked opposite Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal.
