Mumbai: Born to famous Bollywood couple Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh in 1982, Ranbir debuted on the film scene in the year 2007. His debut role came in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Saawariya opposite actor Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor.
He went on to receive the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for Saawariya. Prior to starring in Bhansali’s film, he had assisted Bhansali in the direction of the film Black (2005).
After Saawariya his next film to hit the box office was the peppy movie Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008. The film saw Ranbir sharing screen space with three Bollywood beauties Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone.
Wake Up Sid which released in the second half of 2009 has paved the way for Ranbir’s successful career. In adiiton, two more films starring him – Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Rocket Singh: The Salesman of the Year are slated for release in 2009.
He is currently seeing Bollywood actress and his co-star in one film, Deepika Padukone.
